Epoxy Floor Coating - Solvent Based

There are three main types of epoxy; water based, solvent based, and 100% solids. Each type has its own benefits and unique properties. Solvent based epoxy (also called solventborne) are reknown for its temperature adaptabilty.  It can be applied and cured in less than ideal weather, such as high humidity or cold.  In water based epoxies, humidity can prevent a water based coating from curing. This is not a problem with solvent based epoxies because they can cure in almost any temperature. Solventborne epoxies are also more resistant to petroleum based products and other contaminants, which can break down water based epoxies over time. A solvent based floor coating is therefore ideal for industrial garages where high amounts of oil may be introduced to the finished floor. When the proper safety precautions are taken for applying solvent based epoxy, it can lead to a long-lasting, easy-cure, durable, chemical-resistant floor coating.
